Shalom and I hope you had a wonderful Pesach! We are now moving into the counting of the Omer, which means each day we keep track by marking a calendar or perhaps we have a special wall hanging that we use to mark each day until we reach Shavuot, the Feast of Weeks, which is the first harvest of the season. This time is an opportunity to observe ourselves and with introspection grow just as each season during spring a tree grows as it reaches for the light of warmth.
HaShem is our light of warmth and each season we either grow closer to the Infinite or we shrink and require pruning to hopefully stimulate growth.
For a tool for counting the omer, the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism provided one for free download for 2013/5773.
In Hebrew the word for meditation is Kavannah, כונה, and is all about the intention and direction of your soul toward HaShem just as a living tree turning toward the light. From Aish.org you will find a beautiful Kavannah for each day of the counting of the Omer which I suggest.
This is the week of Chesed, Loving Kindness; are you loving toward yourself, others and the Creator? Love is the most powerful and moving element in experience of creation as the intention and direction of love can ultimately create, save, or heal a life.
